Rotonda – meaning round in Italian, has a generous round body to her. She is a symbol of the voluptuous Italian women seen in the 1950s Italian movies. This carafe was inspired by Giorgio Morandi, a famous still-life Italian painter born in Bologna at the end of the 20th century. Morandi painted using oil paints to create still-life compositions with bottles, carafes, and everyday objects. As a painter herself, Valentina was inspired by Morandi to create a series of simple minimalist objects in handblown glass, crafted for everyday use. Use Rotonda as a carafe, decanter, or bud vase. Mouth-blown from transparent recycled glass by our master glassblowers.

Due to the handmade nature of this item, there will be variations in design and size, as well as slight imperfections, possibly in the form of air bubbles, black specks, pontil and or hand tooling marks, glass or color pattern irregularities; these imperfections are an attribute of handmade craftsmanship and one of the many reasons we love it.

These are entirely made by hand and each creation is unique. Therefore, there may be a slight variation in color, texture, and size between each piece (approximately 1cm-2cm from piece to piece). On the base of each item, you can feel the pontil mark left by the glassblower’s cane. The presence of this mark indicates that the glass was blown freehand. This is the beauty of handmade.
